Tracey with her memorial dog portrait of Oscy created from photos

” Thanks you so very much Sue. There are no words to describe how truly thankful I am for what you have done.

You bought Oscar back to life. I cannot ever thank you enough!”

Tracey Lee

” The portrait has replaced our wedding photo in the lounge room . Having it makes us all feel like he’s alive and watching over everything we do still.”

The first reference photo looked distorted

This photo wasn’t ideal as the flash had washed out his eyes but I fixed that in the portrait. I can do this but a good sharp , flattering photo with their eyes colourful and sharp will always give a better portrait. Although I don’t show every detail it’s the little things like eye colour and accents that really make a portrait come alive!

This photo looks more natural

The one I ended up using. This is much more flattering! His eyes and nose are at a similar angle and he is looking at you.

LHS -This is the original reference photo of Oscy.

Because of where he is looking the photo looks  distorted . His eyes seem to be looking one way ( left) and his nose is  angled to the right!

I  did a sketch intending to fix this nose /eye distortion but then I found another photo where he was looking straight ahead .

This was much more flattering. It’s much easier to paint from a good photo . Watch out for distortions in your photos!

I can fix some distortions but it’s much better to have a good photo to start with.
