103 year old Antonia hates having her photo taken and didn’t really understand what I was doing when we organised her portrait . Her son Peter and I
were a bit worried about how she’d react to seeing her portrait for the first time.
When I showed it her face lit up , she said ” I like it ! Can I have it?”
Peter said ” It’s for your birthday mum”.
Peter and I are delighted she loves her portrait.
Antonia was approaching her 104th birthday and her son Peter thought a portrait would be a great way for the family to remember her. He wanted her portrait to show that she had a hard life but we also wanted to capture her caring nature and the contemplative look she had in the reference photo.
The family now have a great heirloom that mum can enjoy and everyone can remember her by long after she’s gone.
