Zarley had passed away and Ashley wanted a memorial portrait to remember him by. She chose me rather than a Canadian artist as she said my paintings were both realistic and creative. A lot of artist’s do realistic portraits or creative ones without a good likeness. She liked the way my portrait’s were both a good likeness and a colourful creative painting.

Zarley’s eyes were hidden by his hair in the original photo but I thought there would be more connection with the portrait if I made them visible.
