I find it very rewarding to be able to ease the pain of the loss by creating a portrait.<\/p>\n It’s sad when people contact me wanting to get a memorial portrait and I have to tell them it isn’t possible using the blurry or small photos they have.If at all possible,\u00a0 I will try to paint a portrait , even if\u00a0 the photo’s available are not as good as we would like .<\/p>\n For those that have pet’s that are healthy – make sure you take plenty of nice clear photo’s so that if the worse occurs it’s\u00a0 still possible to have a portrait created to remember the good times.<\/p>\n Important tip! I often get people contacting me wanting a portrait and the only photos they have are from Facebook and the quality isn’t good enough to paint from..They take the photos on their camera or phone and then upload them to Facebook.\u00a0 Facebook automatically reduces the size \/ quality of any photos when you put them up so they take less time to load and also because that’s the way it’s set up.<\/p>\n Often their horse or pet has passed away and these are\u00a0 the only photos they have. I have to tell them we can’t do a portrait because as as soon as you enlarge the photos the eyes are blurry etc. This also means you have no decent photo memories of your animals!<\/p>\n TIP – Before you put the photos onto your computer make a folder and name it -original and your pets name and date e.g -original Rusty 1 -10 – 2012 .You can then download your photos from the camera to your computer and put the photos in this folder. When you download to the computer make sure that the camera doesn’t automatically make them smaller and doesn’t erase them afterwards.<\/p>\n Keep a copy on the camera until your finished.<\/p>\n Do not do anything with these photos!!.<\/strong><\/p>\n They are your original \/ master copy. Make a copy of that folder<\/span> on your computer.<\/p>\n Now you can upload the photos in this copied folder to Facebook , edit them etc . How could someone who had never met my dog capture her so perfectly? ‘<\/p>\n Leigh<\/p>\n March, 2009<\/p>\n Dear Sue<\/p>\n Back in October last year I knew my time with my beautiful German Shepherd Jessie was coming to an end.<\/p>\n I didn\u2019t know when but I knew I must start my search for the person who could capture her essence forever on canvas. A search of the entire world using the web provided an enormous amount of choice. The location of the artist I was planning to choose was only a minor consideration. I needed to know the person I chose had the gift I knew I needed them to have. You were the one I chose.<\/p>\n At the end of December the time had come for me to say good bye to Jessie and it was dreadfully heartbreaking. I had your details and wrote to you soon after. You responded immediately and I was impressed by your compassion and professionalism. You worked with me to ensure I was happy every step of the way. From the initial photos to your first sketch, I knew I could trust you and I really did appreciate the way you stayed in touch with me. I think I was still very much in the initial stages of grieving and somehow you knew that and your sensitivity was incredibly helpful to me throughout the entire process.<\/p>\n But nothing, absolutely nothing could have prepared me for the moment I opened up the canvas and saw your painting of Jessie. It was as if she had been there in the flesh with you and you had known her always. Incredibly your painting is almost three dimensional and you have truly captured Jessie on canvas, forever. I am in awe of the way you have managed to capture her eyes and her personality. Everyone has said the same.<\/p>\n I am now in possession of the most precious item in the world to me. I have the most beautiful portrait of my beloved Jessie, painted by a truly remarkable Australian artist, Sue Linton.<\/p>\n I am incredibly grateful to you Sue.
