The Glocestor Bucketts are a range of rocky hills behind the town of Glocestor in the Hunter Valley NSW. They are called that because they look a bit like upturned buckets!

There is a bushwalk you can do that goes along the ridge line and this photo was taken looking down from along the spine on the western end. I loved the tiny farmlet , roads and sunlit hills contrasting against the grasstrees and Australian bush on the top.

Although I’m an experienced bushwalker I’m scared of heights and there is one bit where it is quite exposed. You have to step up over a big gap with a BIG dropoff. Someone had to hold my foot to make sure it was secure while someone else helped from above by taking my hand and another stood below to obscure the drop as much as they could. The hairs stood up on the back of my neck and I was adrenalised for the rest of the walk which is probably why this view had such an impact on me!

The painting was created back in the studio from the photo.
