" Thank you Sue, so much for my beautiful painting, it means more to me that I can put into words.  Even though you never actually met Oscar you have still managed to capture his personality.  To quote my friend Kym, who came with me to collect the painting, “You haven’t just painted a picture of a pet Australian Blue Cattle Dog, you’ve painted Oscar’.

'Isobel'

40 x 50cms

Oil

" It's all that I was after and more! It conveys the soft loving woman that is Isobel which is exactly what I wanted. It will be a treasured heirloom."

Neville

Sue -

" I painted Isobel's portrait from several photos.  I often don't like to show my reference photos as I sometimes use several photos to guide me for a portrait. I use the photos as a starting point and don't slavishly copy them so often the painting will not look exactly as the photo. I want each portrait  painting to be better than the photo.

Here I downplayed any wrinkles Isobel had as although I wanted to show a mature Isobel I wanted the focus to be her lovely personality. "

'Jack'

40 x 50cms

Oil

"OK -  I have waited till I had all the family here to give me their opinions.

 We are all thrilled!

You have definitely captured his inquisitive nature.

 Thanks so much."

'Power and grace'

59 x 59 cms

Oil

As this wasn't a commission I decided my aim would be to emphasise the movement and front of the horse and everything else would be less important. If this was a commission the client would have had input and I could have put a jacket on the rider , had the horse plaited maybe even had the rider the most important. That's the beauty of a painting, unlike a photo where it is already chosen for you and everything is important , in a painting you can choose to emphasise whatever you want .So from one photo you can get several paintings all with a different feel.

'Grant and Casca'

30 x 40 cms

Deep edged canvas Oil

     " It's awesome! I'm sure he'll love it!.."

        Kym

This painting was a compromise. It was to be a secret and

the reference photos weren't good enough to use .

We had to use a different

horse and rider for the action pose and change the colour of the horse .

Then  we had to find a suitable face of Grant  from the photos

of Grant we had to suit the riders pose.

"Thank you for the wonderful painting of Jazzabout.

You have captured him in a way that shows off his beautiful kind

eye and gentle nature, but have still managed to capture his happy soul.

This horse is very dear to me and has given me a lot of enjoyment

in both training and competitions.

I will enjoy seeing him forever portrayed in Oils

everytime I walk past this lovely painting."
