Pet Portraits - Samples of Oils and Pastels and my specials price .

I don't want my portraits to look like the reference photo. I want them to be better than the photo.

I often use more than one photo as reference for your portrait so I can create a portrait that is really alive. Although  people may say my portraits are detailed they are selectively detailed.  Have you ever taken  a photo because of the loving look in your pets eye or the cute angle of their head then been disappointed when you view your photo and wonder why you took it?  This is often because everything in your photo has been given equal importance and detail and the feeling  gets lost in this detail. As an artist I can enhance important features so that the cute or loving  expression is once again what you notice when you look at the portrait . Whenever you view your portrait you can once again feel that connection.

If you want a quality portrait that doesn't just look like a generic breed but looks like YOUR pet  , is anatomically correct, colourful and lifelike with a satisfaction guarantee, I'm your artist. Remember you will be able to enjoy your portrait for a lifetime or more so you don't want to regret choosing the wrong artist. If you don't love your painting and I can't change it so you do , I will refund your money.

My Pastel or Oil portraits range from a  head portrait with a simple colored background to large complicated portraits created from multiple photos. Your portrait can be supplied unframed or framed so all you have to do is plan the unveiling!

Another example of a Deep edged canvas

(also known as a gallery wrap canvas)

This is  popular option for an Oil painting as you don't need to have a frame. All sizes available 40 x 50cm , 50 x 60cm  and larger. The larger sizes are more suitable for  multiple pet portraits .

Large custom framed Oils available as well.

Email me to discuss your preferences.

Custom framed Oil with optional name.

I choose what I believe is the most flattering frame for each portrait and then email the idea through to you for your approval. If you are happy I go ahead and frame your portrait. If not I can suggest another option with your suggestions in mind.

Here are some  portraits hanging on a wall so you can get an idea of how large each size is.

The colour of the wall isn't the most flattering or the photo's of each portrait but it was the only wall available and is ok to give you an idea of the relative sizes.

From Left to Right

30 x 40cms deep edged canvas

75 x 85cms framed Oil

40 x 50cms framed Oil

Here is an example of a highly complicated large portrait to show you what can be done. I can do many things so just talk to me and show me your photos and I can tell you what I can do. Something like this will be more of an investment than a simple one pet portrait done from one photo like the ones above.

'Mr Expensive , Cheryl Duff & All Zipped Up'

 75 x 85cms

 Oil

'It's gorgeous!!"

Cheryl

Although it looks simple here this was a large complicated portrait. I used about 12 different reference photos to create it. As it is going to be in a large room it is designed to be viewed from about 10- 15' away. See below.

Reference photos used. There were about a dozen which were combined and referred to for details such as Cheryl's face , clothing , the braiding of the horses and the ornate saddlery.

Some examples of full body portraits ,  multiple pets , pets in a setting portraits are shown here.

If you require a full body portrait or a multiple pet portrait the minimum size I would suggest is 30 x 40cms (image size) although I can paint 1m x 1m or whatever size you require. My portraits take many hours and passion to create. The larger and more complex portraits are a greater investment because they  take longer to plan and create.

The portraits shown here are selectively focused so that your pets face is more detailed and their body is more suggested. This ensures that your pets face is the star of the portrait and distractions are removed. Backgrounds are simple colours and suggested.

I can also do highly detailed portraits and pets in a setting. Email me to discuss your ideas.

Special - framed Pastel sketch suitable for a head portrait $350
